For the first time, Samsung has shipped more smartphones in the latest quarter than tech industry darling Apple. On the surface, this may look like a big upset in a world that gives the iPhone maker adulation and outsized expectations. The real reason, however, has more to do with timing and Samsung's variety of offerings and prices.

Apple sold 17.1 million iPhones in the third quarter, 3 million fewer than expected. The South Korea-based Samsung, meanwhile, shipped more than 27 million, according to analyst estimates.

So what happened? For one, Apple's latest iPhone, the 4S, didn't come out until the quarter ended, so its sales are not included in the figure. People held back on buying older models in anticipation of the new iPhone, which came out Oct. 14. Apple said it sold more than 4 million units in its first weekend on sale, and that should be reflected in the count for the current, holiday quarter.

"People were waiting," said Francis Sideco, analyst with the research firm IHS. "We don't see this as a signal that Apple is all of a sudden losing its edge. It's their normal thing. But while they are doing this normal thing, Samsung is (going strong) and they happen to have a really good quarter."

Samsung's quarter was helped by strong sales of its Galaxy phones, though Sideco said the numbers shouldn't lead to the conclusion that the Samsung Galaxy beat the Apple iPhone.
"What beat it is Samsung's lines," Sideco said.

Besides the Galaxy line, Samsung's phones include Conquer, Replenish, Focus and Indulge. IHS estimates that Samsung sold about 40 different models during the third quarter. By comparison, Apple had just two - the 4 and the 3GS.

Samsung does not disclose the number of phones it ships. IHS, formerly known as iSuppli, estimates that Samsung shipped 27.3 million smartphones in the latest quarter. Jae Lee from Daiwa Securities puts the figure at about 28 million.

Analysts cautioned against reading too much into the numbers, but such comparisons are tempting given that the rivalry between the two companies has heated up and extended into the courtroom.

Apple says the product design, user interface and packaging of Samsung's Galaxy devices "slavishly copy" the iPhone and Apple's iPad tablet computer. Samsung fought back with lawsuits of its own, accusing Apple of patent infringement of its wireless telecommunications technology.

Even as Samsung sold more phones, Apple seems to be making more money on each. That's one of the reasons Apple is now the most valuable tech company in the world, with a market value about three times that of Samsung.

Apple competes on - and dominates - the high-end smartphone market. By contrast, Samsung has both cheap and expensive phones available. That means Samsung can appeal to a broader range of customers, but the company has to settle for a lower profit margin on lower-end smartphones.

Sideco called both strategies good. Good, but different.

Apple, which is based in California, limits the market it addresses because it is safeguarding its profit margin on the iPhone, said Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi. More expensive phones mean higher margins for the company, which so far hasn't focused on the market for lower-end phones.

"It's part of their plan," Milanesi said. "If they wanted to capture a wider segment of the market, they would go with a lower-end device."

That could come soon. The US price cut earlier this month for the iPhone 4 to US$99 (down from $199) and the decision to offer now-ancient 3GS for free - with a two-year service contract - could mean that Apple is testing the waters in the cheaper market.

"The sales of the $99 iPhone 4 will definitely help widen the addressable market," Milanesi said.
When it comes to the overall mobile phone market, though neither Apple nor Samsung are on top. That honour goes to Nokia. The Finnish company is still the world's No. 1 cellphone maker even though it has fallen behind rivals in the smartphone market. Nokia shipped 16.8 million smartphones during the third quarter, a close third to Apple, according to IHS.

Iphone  vs  Galaxy

بدأ الصراع بين سامسونج وآبل يصبح غبياً إلى حد ما ، فبعد أن قامت الشركتان برفع القضايا في الولايات المتحدة وكوريا الجنوبية ، بدأت القضايا في التوسع حيث تم رفع المزيد من القضايا في كل من اليابان وإيطاليا والمانيا وكلها بحجة أن الطرف الأخر قام بإنتهاك بعض من براءات الإختراع ولعل آبل هي من بدأ هذه الحرب حين قامت برفع قضية على سامسونج تتهمها بسرقة تصاميم الأي فون والأي باد وإستخدامه في أجهزتها.

وفى المقابل قامت سامسونج بالرد على آبل حيث قالت أن تصاميم الأجهزة كانت موجودة لديها من قبل إصدار الآى فون وأنها إستخدمتها فى عدة أجهزة أخرى على شكل مبسط , بل وقامت سامسونج منذ شهر أو إثنين بتقديم دعوى طلب رؤية آى فون 5 فى المحكمة كما قامت برفع قضايا تتهم فيها آبل بإنتهاك براءات إختراعها.

يأتى هذا التصعيد فى الوقت الذى كان قد أعلن فيه من قبل بعض مسئولى الشركتين بأنهما بصدد تسوية خلافاتهما بعيداً عن قاعات المحكمة ومحاولة تهدئة الأوضاع إلا أن هذا التصعيد جاء عكس المتوقع ليجعلنا نتساءل .. متى سينتهى هذا الصراع؟

قامت شركة Namco مؤخراً بإطلاق لعبتها المعروفة Flight Control فى نسخة الأندرويد لتكون النسخه الأصليه للعبه على الأندرويد .
فكره اللعبه تعتمد على تحديد مسارات لعدد من الطائرات المحلقة على الشاشة، لتستطيع الهبوط في مطاراتها بسلامة.

إذا قمت برسم مسار صحيح بين الطائرة ومطارها ستجد أن لون الطائرة تحول إلى اللون الأبيض، وستتوجة الطائرة إلى المطار مباشرة ثم الهبوط بشكل تلقائي، في بعض الحالات ستلاحظ ظهور بعض الدوائر الحمراء حول طائرتك او بعض التنبيهات الصوتيه هذا مؤشر ليس جيد،  فهو تنبيه لإحتمال حدوث إصدمات بين عدد من الطائرات، وهذا ما لا تريدة فعلاً.

أعلنت شركة "1 بلاس في" (1plus v) الفرنسية المتخصصة فى البحث على الإنترنت, أنها ستقوم بمقاضاة شركة جول وطلب تعويض يبلغ 295 مليون يورو (417.7 مليون دولار) زاعمة أن جوجل قامت باستغلال سيطرتها على السوق لمنع تطوير الخدمات البديلة حسب مزاعم الشركة.

وتقول شركة "1 بلاس في" التي تدير موقع "أي جاستيس" (Ejustice) القانوني ومحرك بحث، إن جوجل قامت بمنعها من تطوير محركات بحث رأسية متخصصة, وأعاقت قدرتها على تنمية أعمالها وعلى الإعلان, وإن هذا المبلغ الذي تطالب به على سبيل التعويض هو عن الأرباح التي خسرتها.

وقد أوضح محامي الشركة أن جوجل قد تم إعلامها بدعوى التعويض أمس الاثنين، وستقام الدعوى أمام محكمة باريس التجارية اليوم الثلاثاء أو غدا الأربعاء.

أصبحت لعبة Cut the Rope وهي تعتبر من أشهر الألعاب على iOS أصبحت متاحة اليوم لأندرويد , اللعبة تعتمد على فكرة بسيطة  من حيث المبدأ وهي عبارة عن (( أنه بحوزتك قطعة حلوى تتدلى من حبل عليك قطع الحبل لكي تسقط الحلوى إلى فم الضفدع. قد تبدو اللعبة بسيطة فى مراحلها الأولى لكن بمجردالتقدم فى المراحل تتعقد وتزداد الصعوبة ويزيد عدد الحبال لذلك يجب أن تفكر بذكاء بالترتيب الذي يجب به قطع الحبال لإسقاط القطعة في المكان الصحيح مع الحصول على جميع النجوم.

قامت شركة سامسونج للإلكترونيات بإطلاق فيديو رسمي يتناول جميع مواصفات حاسبها اللوحي الذي تم إطلاقه في الولايات المتحدة منذ يومين فقط جالاكسى تاب 10.1 Galaxy Tab 10.1. الفيديو يعرض المواصفات المعروفة عن الجهاز كنحافته الشديدة ووزنه الخفيف وشاشته ذات الـ 10.1 إنش ومعالجه ثنائي النواة وغير ذلك. الجديد هو أنها المرة الأولى التي نرى فيها في فيديو رسمي من سامسون واجهة TouchWiz التي أضافتها فوق نسخة أندرويد 3.1 (قرص العسل).

الأجهزة الموجودة فى الأسواق حاليا تأتي مع تجربة قرص العسل بدون أى تعديلات أو تحديثات , وسوف يتم إصدار واجهة TouchWiz لاحقاً كتحديث اختياري لمستخدمى هذه الأجهزة. لكن في الواقع وبحسب ما يبدو من الفيديو وبفضل واجهات قرص العسل الرائعة فإن واجهة سامسونج لم تضف الكثير ولم تؤثر على تجربة النظام القادمة من جوجل

إن أهم ما يجذب المستخدمين إلى نظام التشغيل أندرويد Android الذى قامت جوجل بإبتكاره لإستخدامه كنظام تشغيل للهواتف الذكية وأجهزة الكومبيوتر اللوحى المسماه " تابلت " هو أنه نظام مفتوح المصدر , بمعنى أنه نظام مجانى يمكنك تطويره بنفسك والتعديل فيه مما يعنى أن المطور له حق التطوير والمستخدم له حق التخصيص

قامت شركة سامسونج الكورية المتخصصة فى مجال إنتاج الهواتف المحمولة والذكية بإطلاق ثلاث هواتف جديدة من فئة جالاكسي المدهشة ، وهي "جالاكسي إس"، و"جالاكسي فيت"، و"جالاكسي ميني" التي تعمل جميعها بنظام تشغيل أندرويد.

هذا فى الوقت الذي قامت فيه شركة أبل رائدة صناعة أجهزة الحاسوب والهواتف الذكية برفع دعوى قضائية بخصوص براءة اختراع ضد شركة سامسونج للإليكترونيات في كوريا الجنوبية، في خطوة لتصعيد النزاع القضائي الدائر بين الشركتين بخصوص التصاميم والتكنولوجيات المستخدمة في أفضل الهواتف مبيعا لديهما.

بدأ الصراع الدائر بين شركتى " آبل " الأمريكية و " سامسونج " الكورية على براءات الاختراع  فى إتخاذ شكلا جديداً مع بدء مسئولين تنفيذيين كبار من الشركتين  فى إجراء محادثات تهدف لإنهاء هذا النزاع القضائى.

و قد بدأ هذا الصراع عندما قامت شركة " أبل" بإتهام الشركة الكورية بنسخ تصميماتها عندما أطلقت أجهزتها المحمولة المعتمدة على نظام تشغيل "أندرويد" المفتوح المصدر، بما فى ذلك حاسب "جلاكسى تاب" اللوحى وهاتف "كابتيفيت" الذكى.

وقد أدهش العديد من المحللين التقنيين بالدهشة من هذا الإتهام ، حيث أن " أبل " هى ثانى أكبر عملاء " سامسونج " من ناحية إستخدام مكوناتها ، وتوفر نحو 7.5 مليار دولار من مبيعات معالجات العملاق الكورى الجنوبى.

إلا أن الشركتين تحولتا  إلى أشرس المتنافسين عقب اقتناص هاتف "جالاكسى 2" الذكى من "ساسمونج" لحصة كبيرة من منافسه "آى فون 4" فى سوق الهواتف الذكية .

The Apple's WWDC 2011 event was just for iOs 5, iCloud and Mac OS X Lion but the missing link was the highly anticipated hardware which will don the new OS and connect to the cloud - the iPhone 5.
