Samsung announced Its 30nm DDR3 DRAM

Today Samsung has announced the introduction of 30nm-class DDR3 DRAM modules for PC upgrades, and if you are going to take the company at its word, so the new modules are all that and a bag of fat free chips with all the flavor of regular chips. and for More specifically, Samsung is giving promises that this new generation of memory is faster and more energy efficient, claims you'll be able to put the test when the parts ship through consumer and retail channels later this summer.
"Replacing your DRAM can be one of the easiest, most cost-effective ways to upgrade your PC’s performance,
and these new products offer the most energy-efficient option currently available to consumers," said Reid Sullivan, senior vice president of mobile entertainment marketing, Samsung Electronics America. "Samsung is committed to bringing performance-enhanced computing to consumers, and our 30nm-class process technology offers an outstanding combination of advanced low-power DDR3 technology, with blazing speed up to 1,600 megabits per second (Mbps)."

Aimed at those in need of a modest upgrade, Samsung's new DDR3 modules will ship in 2GB and 4GB capacities in very low profile (VLP) unbuffered dual in-line memory module (UDIMM) configurations for desktops and SODIMM form for notebook PCs. And don't worry about the new manufacturing process, Samsung promises backwards compatibility with systems designed for previous DDR3 and DDR2 memory.
The upshot to the 30nm manufacturing process is that these modules consume up to two-thirds less energy than those built using industry standard 60nm technology, and without sacrificing performance, Samsung says.
